Entry requirements for training

• Minimum age 16 years.
• 2nd class medical certificate (before the first solo flight at the latest).
• Completed at least basic education.
• The student must have sufficient knowledge of the Czech or English language.

Course of training

PPL(H) training begins with basic theoretical training and familiarization with the helicopter. In parallel with the theory, there is a practical one
training in the air, where the piloting technique is trained according to the set flight exercises.
Before the first solo flight, the student must obtain a medical certificate of at least II. classes and a Limited radiotelephone operator's license.
During the entire training, the student flies a total of 45 flight hours and after the theoretical preparation passes the theoretical exams at the ÚCL.
The conclusion of the training is a skill test, during which the student must prove his theoretical knowledge and ability to pilot a helicopter.
Upon successful completion of this exam, the student will receive a PPL(H) license.

Practical part of the training

If the student is a complete beginner, it is necessary for him to fly at least 45 flight hours according to the established training curriculum.
If the student has already flown in the past, he can count up to 10% of the total flight time, but a maximum of 6 flight hours.
Practical helicopter flying can be started almost immediately after basic instruction.

Theoretical part of the training

The theoretical part takes place for the most part in a distance form online and partly face-to-face in the classroom.
The course includes a total of 100 hours (of which approx. 50% self-study) and at the end of it there is an internal examination of the student, on the basis of which our ATO will issue a theoretical certificate to the student to register for the theoretical exams at ÚCL.

The course consists of the following subjects:

• Aviation law and ATC procedures
• General knowledge of the aircraft
• Flight execution and planning
• Human performance and limitations
• Meteorology
• Navigation
• Operating Procedures
• Basics of flight - helicopters
• Communication

The final part of the training

After completing the above-mentioned parts of the training, the final examination by an authorized examiner from ÚCL will be conducted, during which you will have to demonstrate sufficient theoretical knowledge and helicopter piloting technique.
On the basis of this skill test, you will subsequently be issued with a PPL(H) Private Helicopter Pilot license.
